Die Messerschmitt Bf 109 war ein Schlüsselelement in allen Aktionen des Zweiten Weltkriegs und hatte ihren Erstflug am 28. Mai 1935. Angetrieben von einem DB 605 Motor mit bis zu 1.435 PS erreichte der einsitzige Jäger eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 594 km/h in 7.400 m Höhe. Insgesamt wurden etwa 35.000 Einheiten dieses Flugzeugmodells produziert.
